Australian Mining Jobs in Queensland and Employment

With a giant mining boom underway in Australia, mostly concentrated in Western Australia and Queensland, there is a great need for skilled and unskilled workers. If you are contemplating moving to Queensland or currently live in this state, then you may want to know how to find a job in one of the mines here. Queensland mining companies commonly employ people from all over Australia and New Zealand to work in these mines.

If you do not currently live in Queensland, then you may want to consider a FIFO position where you can fly in and out when you are required to do so. Working in the mines is a very rewarding job where most companies pay much more for you to do a similar job you could do back home. In some cases, you can be paid up to $100,000 a year for operating heavy machinery.

If you are looking to gain a position in Queensland, then you may want to know:

  • if there are traineeships available
  • whether you need mining experience
  • what sort of training is required and where to get it
  • what certification is required
  • and how soon you can start

Considering there is a large number of mine sites located throughout Queensland, there may be a position available close to where you live. Otherwise you may be interested in a fly in/ fly out (FIFO) position.

A position in Queensland is ideal for you if you:

  • have a current drivers license or can obtain this
  • have several years experience driving trucks
  • can pass a pre employment medical examination
  • have at least 6 months mining experience
  • have current first aid certification or able to obtain this

If you do not have these, there are other ways to gain a position in the mines in Queensland or alternatively there are plenty other positions in other locations that may be more suitable for you. If you are considering getting into the mining industry, now is a great time to do so, for both skilled and unskilled workers.
