There are many different mines in Queensland. Coal, gold, silver, copper, lead and nickel as well as diamonds and opals. Some of these are underground as well as open cut/pit mines. There are hundreds of jobs available throughout the state, from dump truck operators to drillers, nurses, plant operators, mine managers, trades assistants, sample preparers, geologists, surveyor and metallurgists. Often these workers stay in mining camps so housekeepers, cooks, kitchen staff, and cleaners are also in demand.
You may also want to know about FIFO (fly in, fly out) arrangements and what the conditions are like. Whether food and laundry is provided, who pays for the travel, how long the shifts are and how much you will be paid.
